Hello, I had the same problem until yesterday when I found out that I haven't update Xbox App, after I update it through Microsoft Store after I reset Microsoft Store it all working fine now.

What I did step-by-step

1. Open Apps in settings,  search for Microsoft Store in Apps & features "Search this list"

2. Click Advance, then Reset

3. Open Microsoft Store, click Downloads & updates, then click Get updates (even if there's noting)

3.1 update Xbox App through Microsoft Store

4. Open Xbox App after update, then I can install the game through it just fine

Hope it help you.

Have you make sure that you have reset Microsoft Store first then update Xbox App?

Are  your Xbox App look like this? Because from your first screenshot it seem to be old version UI

New UI should look like this

You can maybe try resetting Microsoft Store again, and this time try installing through Microsoft Store first to see if it can be download with it.

if it still can't be download then aside from what I found on Google I don't know anymore, sorry about that.

Had this same issue since 2019 and ZERO help from Microsoft, incredibly irritating.

I have done everything as mentioned and the 'IT Network' comeback of uninstalling/reinstalling, but nothing. I find it strange however that I can install say Doom Eternal or Forza, but not a 3rd party game such as Snow Runner. This has only happened over the last week or so and I thought it was because I had a new computer and something was 'not right' with it (I hadn't properly updated etc), but then I see others are having the same problem, so realised that couldn't have been the case.

I was wondering do Microsoft actually read these threads, as I am sure we can't be the 'unlucky few' that this is a problem for, but I have seen no threads or notifications that this is a problem, please sort it out Microsoft!

After hours of 'fiddling' I found a solution that worked for me.

First ensure that Microsoft Store and Xbox gaming app is the same account and then

Carry out the following

Unable to Install Gaming Service Error: 0x80073D26 For those that are unable to install Gaming Service in relation to the Xbox App with gamepass with error 0x80073D26. This simple fix is a variation of Kevin Andrews fix from https://xbox-forums.com/threads/gaming-service-wont-install-error-0x80073d26.369289/ by user Xbox1234: Open RegEdit as an administrator and delete the following Services: * [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\GamingServices] * [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\GamingServicesNet] Reboot PC Install gaming service like you would normally This alone resolve my issue, no fuddling with windows app folder user permissions, deleting folders, running CCleaner, powershell commands, app reset/repairs, Win 10 Reset, or MS Support, just deleting the two reg keys. Tested after an in place windows 10 reset where I still had this issue, so this was likely to be the variable. EDIT (5/28/21): Disclaimer: Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, [click here to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base](https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/how-to-back-up-and-restore-the-registry-in-windows-855140ad-e318-2a13-2829-d428a2ab0692). Glad to see mostly all of you are having success with this.

This worked for me 'like a charm',

Hope it helps someone else!

Same thing has been happening to me, incredibly frustrating. Not sure why I'm paying for Game pass if I cant even download games. On top of the error from the Xbox app, I cannot download any thing from the Microsoft store. For example, trying to download Gears Tactics, which is on game pass, when I click install absolutely nothing happens. But if i want to purchase the game that works just fine. Absurd.
